Latest Updates from Our Project:

Shipping before Xmas!
over 8 years ago – Fri, Nov 20, 2015 at 11:18:32 PM

Hi everyone!

First off, I want to apologize that this update didn't come last week, as promised. After the news about what was happening around the world, many of us with campaigns and "business" agendas felt it was in poor taste to be posting, and I quite agreed, and then the following day, I was given the news of a loss of someone very close to me. While there is no excuse, the last week has been hard. I'm human, and I am sorry.

So here is the update: I should have the books before Xmas. I absolutely want to have these all shipped out before the new year - it is a promise I made to myself after all of these delays happened, and I am doing my very best to keep my promises to you and to me. It is just little ol' me over here, not a team of people or company working on the production and delivery end, so I'll be hand-packing each shipment. I already have all of my shipping supplies ordered and a space organized to pack these out.

Here's how you can help: PLEASE update your BackerKit survey with your current shipping information or fill it out if you haven't already! The link to BackerKit is https://girlsongames.backerkit.com/ and can also be found at the top of the Girls on Games Kickstarter page. Please sign in with your email address that you use for Kickstarter. As of right now, only 87% of backers have filled it out, and I can't ship out any orders that I don't have addresses for. Your books will be delayed further if I don't have your address in BackerKit, so help me out by completing the survey - it only takes two minutes!

Additionally, I am going to be getting the digital format copy of the book done in the next week and sending those out. I'm currently evaluating the best delivery method for that, and I will have that information (and a link to download) for you guys soon so there is no more waiting!

Again, I can't thank you enough for your patience. You all have been amazing with your support of this project.

Thanks,

Elisa

Be sure to update your BackerKit surveys! Books are coming soon!
almost 9 years ago – Wed, Jul 29, 2015 at 10:13:11 PM

We are expecting to get the books really soon, so I just want to make sure that you all have taken the time to update your surveys if you have moved! There are still quite a few backers who haven't filled out their surveys at all, and we can't get your books to you if you don't take that final step!

Excitement is brewing over here, and I'm really hoping to have copies in-hand by Gen Con. They won't be for sale there, but I certainly want to show them off! I'll be doing a few panels as one of the Industry Insider Featured Presenters, including one on Women in Gaming, so if you are going to the con, please check it out!

Thanks everyone!

Production Update :)
almost 9 years ago – Wed, Jun 24, 2015 at 10:16:37 AM

Hi everyone!

I wanted to give you guys a quick update with the good news that we are out of the editing process and into production! Unfortunately, with our earlier delays, production of the book has collided with the game industry's convention season. It was our original intention in the scheduling of this whole project to avoid convention season, but you all know the old saying about good intentions... *sigh*

We're working hard to get this finished and fulfilled before the summer's "Big 3": San Diego Comic Con, Gen Con, and PAX, but in all honesty, I don't think we will make it for Comic Con (which is a hard hit for us, as we invested in booth space there). Gen Con is much more likely, and since I am an Industry Insider Featured Presenter this year (where I will be speaking about the issues addressed in the book), I really want to have the book on hand there!

I assure you that we are on the edge of our seats to have this in our shelves as much as all of you patient backers out there, and the passion behind this project is as important as ever.

I'm in Seattle this weekend for ETX (Evergreen Tabletop Expo), and if any of you are planning to attend and have any questions (or just want to hang out and chat), please come find me! While I have game and puzzle projects constantly in the works, I want you all to know that this book is of utmost priority. When I'm back from this convention, I should have an update from the printer on a more exact delivery time, so please keep your eye out for an update really soon!

Thanks to you all for your amazing support!

Update on Production Progress!
almost 9 years ago – Tue, Jun 16, 2015 at 09:13:08 AM

Hi folks!

I'm sorry for the delay in an update - I've honestly been trying to get as much clear and accurate information as possible before passing it along to you all, and now I have a pretty decent picture of production progress to give to you!

Because of the size and scope of this project, working with so many professional women (and therefore, very busy women), we had a delay in getting in all of our chapters from everyone within our initial timeframe.  At the time of my last update, nearly all submissions were turned in, but when we handed the document over to our editor, we were already quite a bit late at that point, and she was booked out for editing for the next 2 months.

I have been scrambling to find a new editor or just decide to wait it out, but we have some really good options now and are getting back on track.  I assure you that all delays are due to all of us involved in the project working so hard in the industry - it is convention season, we all have game production schedules, and extremely hard deadlines.  I know that one of my deadlines and obligations is to you guys, as our backers, and I take that very seriously.

We are now 1 month late, which I promised to *myself* wouldn't happen, but sometimes when working as a group, one person's delays affect everyone, and I take responsibility as the project manager for not just moving forward without those chapters, but I felt it important to have everyone included. Please rest assured that the book is nearly ready to go into production, which will be done domestically to ensure a quick delivery.

I also promise to stay on top of updates for you guys to keep you in the loop!

Thank you all for your understanding,

Elisa Teague
